Extraordinary Life!
That somthing or someone is called extraordinary is no small thing. Things in life are good, acceptable, nice and enjoyable. Sometimes things are beautiful or even great... I've been known to use the word awesome quite a bit, but rarely is the thing I'm referring to actually awesome... The Grand Cannon is awesome... My girlfriends new shoes are not. What I'm pointing to is that the word extraordinary is seldom used, unless it is truly being used to describe something or someone who is deserving of it.
So what is an extraordinary life?
Is it one of fame and fortune? Political achievement? The humanitarian or philanthropist? Indeed, it may be these types of people who we acknowlege as extrodinary people living extraordinary lives... And those individuals who have overcome great odds or hardships, but that still may leave you and me out.
I wonder if there are more extraordinary people living ordinary lives, with typical circumstances, the expected heartaches, setbacks, victories, love and joys life offers us. I suspect that while life may not be fancy, filled with fortune and fame, we can be extraordinary in how we live our lives.
I looked this weekend at areas if my life that I was putting up with or tolerating being "fine" or "okay". I looked for what was missing in those areas of life, that if I brought a new possibility to that area, would dramatically impact and alter that area of my life.
I saw that being extraordinary was missing.
In the area of my relationship with my former husband, being extraordinary with him was missing. So I'm taking that on. Now what? Now I get to be extraordinary. Because I say so, not because the circumstances are favorable, or that I have something to overcome. I get to be extraordinary because I gave my word to be. I'll let you know what results show up inside of my stand for an extraordinary life. There are other areas of life I've taken on as well and I'll write about those next. The offering I'll leave with you today is this:
Where is EXTRAORDINARY missing from your life? Who says it has to be that way?
Extraordinarily yours,
Cathy
